Iran has officially announced that it is ready to present its investment projects to Turkmenistan. Heydari, the head of the Organization for Investment and Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran, noted that the historical and strategic relations between Iran and Turkmenistan make participation in economic conferences an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation and develop infrastructure.

Investment Opportunities and Trade Corridors

Heydari stated that the future of investment in the region depends on expanding connections between markets and referred to the International North-South Corridor and the Central Corridor. These corridors were introduced as opportunities for forming regional value chains. The Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance also mentioned that Iran can provide Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries access to the Persian Gulf and open waters.

Turkmenistan and Central Asian countries can also provide Iran with access to the Eurasian economic space. These interactions should be accompanied by investments that, in addition to capital transfer, also help strengthen regional economic ties.

Areas of Cooperation and Joint Projects

Heydari referred to some major cross-border projects that Iran and Turkmenistan are currently implementing, including the Korpeje-Kordkuy gas pipeline, the Friendship Dam, and the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway. These projects were introduced as examples of successful cooperation between the two countries in the field of infrastructure development and joint projects.

The head of the Organization for Investment and Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran announced four essential areas of cooperation, including energy, transit and logistics, agriculture and food industries, and industrial investment in free and special economic zones. In the energy sector, gas swaps, energy transfer and storage, and refining and petrochemicals were introduced as areas of cooperation.

Heydari also emphasized investment in rail and road fleets, border terminals, and logistics centers in the transit and logistics sector, presenting them as solutions to reduce costs and time in regional trade. In agriculture, linking Central Asian agricultural products with Iran's processing and distribution capabilities can provide a basis for joint presence in international markets.

Heydari also stressed the need for clear institutional mechanisms and executable projects, stating that Iran is strengthening the framework for facilitating investment to meet investors' needs. He also emphasized Iran's readiness to move from introducing general opportunities to examining joint investable projects with Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries.
