The Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture has announced its readiness for a leap in exports to the African continent, especially to Kenya, and has examined commercial and economic opportunities. Samad Hassan-Zadeh, the head of this chamber, emphasized the importance of these collaborations by referring to the strategic position of Mombasa port as one of the main gateways for Iranian trade to Africa.
Facilitating Economic Exchanges with Modern Tools
Hassan-Zadeh said: "Kenya, due to its strong financial infrastructure and ideal conditions, can be considered a target market for Iranian goods." He added: "Currently, trade mechanisms such as barter tools are being used to facilitate economic exchanges between the two countries, and logistical challenges and financial transfers have also been resolved to streamline trade."
Meeting Kenya's Import Needs
The head of the Chamber of Commerce also referred to this entity's complete readiness to meet Kenya's import needs in areas such as bitumen, cement, and other essential materials and goods. He announced that the Chamber of Commerce would provide a communication platform for traders from both countries to expedite this matter.
Hassan-Zadeh further pointed to the capabilities of Iranian companies in various fields, including dam construction, power plant establishment, housing construction, and information technology, stating: "This high potential has created opportunities for participation in Kenya's construction projects." He emphasized the necessity of joint participation and investments in the construction of refinery facilities and downstream petrochemical industries, especially in the production and supply of chemical fertilizers and petroleum products.
Cooperation Opportunities in Agriculture
This meeting also highlighted cooperation opportunities in the agricultural sector. Areas such as joint investment in overseas cultivation projects, transfer of technical knowledge and agricultural mechanization, implementation of modern irrigation systems, and establishment of processing industries for products were discussed. Hassan-Zadeh emphasized that with the planning of the Chamber of Commerce and the participation of the private sector, the maximum utilization of Iran's technical, engineering, and industrial capacities for market development in East Africa will be seriously pursued.
In general, the Iran Chamber of Commerce has taken effective steps towards expanding trade and economic cooperation with the African continent by providing the necessary infrastructure and paying attention to the needs of the Kenyan market.
