International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) has expanded a collection of free resources for the global maritime community. These new resources provide ship owners and operators, managers, seafarers, and industry stakeholders access to practical tools, reports, and guidelines that assist in implementing best industry practices.
Practical and Safety Resources
The expanded collection includes checklists, assessment tools, posters, and guidance documents in the areas of operations, safety, workforce, and sustainability. Many of these resources are complemented by ICS publications and provide practical materials that can be used alongside the organization's comprehensive guidelines. Others are available as standalone resources on important maritime issues.

Practical Tools and Reports
Among the new resources available are practical tools related to several key ICS publications, including the Bridge Procedures Guide, Engine Room Procedures Guide, Deck Procedures Guide, and guidance on implementing the International Labour Organization (ILO) Maritime Labour Convention. These resources include checklists related to the bridge, navigation, maneuvering, and emergencies, engine room permits and checklists, deck self-assessment tools, and guidelines to prevent violence and harassment in the maritime sector.
The collection also includes independent resources such as the ICS Maritime Barometer report for the years 2025-2026, flag performance tables, and guidelines on navigation in areas with unreliable satellite signals, which will be introduced in the upcoming edition of the Bridge Procedures Guide.
ICS is also making a range of joint and independent resources freely available, including promoting the adoption of maritime treaties developed with the Comité Maritime International, Search and Rescue at Sea produced jointly with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and UNHCR, and research reports on ship recycling and carbon storage on ships.
Thomas A. Kazakos, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Shipping, stated: “Sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in our industry is a central part of ICS's mission. These free resources have been developed to assist seafarers, ship operators, and maritime stakeholders in accessing practical guidance on various aspects that impact the daily operations and future of our industry.”
The expanded resource collection demonstrates ICS's ongoing commitment to supporting the global maritime industry through practical guidance, research, and thought leadership.
