South Pars and Azadegan Field are being developed as two strategic pathways to maintain the country's oil and gas production. The increase in oil and gas production is clearly visible with observable numbers; for example, Phase 11 of South Pars is now experiencing better conditions with a daily production of over 26 million cubic meters of gas compared to the past.
South Pars Projects
Gas production from Phase 11 of South Pars has increased from about 12 million cubic meters per day at the beginning of the fourteenth government to over 26 million cubic meters per day. This increase in production is the result of drilling, completing, and connecting new wells in the border area of the shared South Pars field. However, the development of this phase is not yet complete, and the infrastructure is still being prepared.
Production Growth in Azadegan Field
In the South Azadegan Field, the growth of over 63,000 barrels in oil production in the last 17 months indicates efforts to increase production capacity. This increase in production has coincided with the completion of oil processing infrastructure. The nominal capacity for processing crude oil in this field has reached 320,000 barrels per day, but achieving this capacity depends on the coordination of wells, pumps, and processing units.
The pressure enhancement project in South Pars has also been designed to prevent production decline in the coming years. This project is currently in the stage of initiating engineering and operational activities, and its importance in securing the country's gas supply, especially as the natural reservoir pressure gradually decreases, is clearly felt.
The Bilal gas field is also continuing its development. The 75-meter jacket of this field has been installed by Petropars and has a daily processing capacity of 500 million cubic feet of gas. Additionally, in the Farzad B project, the construction of the jacket for one of the wellhead platforms has been completed, and drilling operations will begin soon.
The increase in the number of offshore drilling rigs from two to four has enabled simultaneous drilling in Phase 11 of South Pars and the Bilal Field. These developments reflect ongoing efforts to maintain production and increase future capacities in the country's oil and gas industry.
