The price of North Sea Brent crude oil in trading on Wednesday, October 29, rose by 1.5% to $110.38 per barrel. This price increase is due to concerns about supply disruptions from the Middle East and declining inventories of crude oil and petroleum products in the United States.

Fluctuations in Global Oil Prices

WTI crude oil also increased by 1.4% to $99.18 per barrel. The prices of both oil benchmarks had decreased in trading on Tuesday, October 28, although Brent oil prices reached their highest level in five months during the early hours of trading.

Reasons for the Increase and Fluctuations in Oil Prices

Suvoor Sarkar, head of energy research at DBS Bank, stated that oil prices have experienced significant volatility in recent days. According to him, this situation is due to selling for profit and also hopes for reaching agreements mediated by Qatar or Pakistan. However, optimism is tempered by existing realities, and reaching any agreement still seems far from achievable.

Market analysts have also pointed to declining inventories in the United States. Data from the American Petroleum Institute shows that in the week ending October 16 (Friday, October 24), U.S. crude oil inventories decreased by 4.9 million barrels. This decline in inventories has significantly impacted prices and raised concerns about fuel supply in the near future.

U.S. Energy Department Efforts to Increase Production

Two officials from the U.S. Department of Energy also announced that they are working with refineries around the world to increase fuel production. This action is due to a shortage of diesel and rising prices. These issues seem likely to have a significant impact on the oil market and its global prices.

As a result, the oil market continues to face serious challenges, and price fluctuations are likely to persist in the coming days. Analysts believe that given the current conditions, we should expect further changes in global oil prices.
