Golar LNG announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase the LNG carrier Grace Dalian from NYK Line. This vessel, built in 2013, has been maintained and operated to the highest operational standards under the management of NYK Line.
Vessel Details and Storage Capacity
The Grace Dalian vessel is intended to be converted into the company's fourth FLNG unit. The new FLNG unit, ordered on August 12, 2026, has a liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage capacity of 177,427 cubic meters. This capacity is approximately 20% larger than that of the Esperanza FLNG unit (with a capacity of 3.5 million tons per year) currently under construction.
Advantages of Larger Capacity and Conversion Process
The larger capacity of the Grace Dalian vessel provides greater flexibility for future customers in LNG offloading. Meanwhile, Golar will also benefit from the advantages of the repeatable MKII design. The new FLNG unit will be converted alongside the Esperanza FLNG unit at the CIMC Raffles shipyard in Yantai, China. With plans for redelivery in 2029, this FLNG unit will represent the first available FLNG capacity globally.
