The U.S. natural gas market is likely to be influenced by a favorable balance in winter 2023, which could put pressure on gas prices. This forecast was made during a joint webinar held by two organizations, where experts discussed the current state and future outlook of the market.

Supply and Demand in Winter 2023

Experts announced that, given sufficient reserves and a favorable balance in the market, the price of natural gas in winter 2023 will face less pressure. This situation is due to high gas reserves in fields such as the Appalachian shale gas field and the ethanol gas field in Texas. The capacity of these fields is 30 and 20 billion cubic meters per day, respectively.

Future Challenges of the Natural Gas Market

However, experts warned that the market balance may be affected in the coming years by increased competition for gas supply. In particular, rising demand from Asian and European countries for natural gas could put more pressure on the market. These developments could lead to price volatility, which will have widespread impacts on the energy industry.

Currently, the natural gas production capacity in the U.S. has reached about 100 billion cubic meters per day, making the country one of the largest natural gas producers in the world. This production is sent to domestic and export markets and has played a significant role in global energy supply.

Given the current trend, it seems that the U.S. natural gas market will face few challenges in the short term, but in the long term, there is a need for planning and optimal resource management to cope with increasing demand.
