Ezzatollah Gholami, at the closing ceremony of the seventh evaluation round of operational readiness of firefighters of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, stated that the evaluation courses for oil industry firefighters were held to assess their responsiveness, coordination, and readiness in emergency situations. He mentioned that this maneuver, which serves as a criterion for measuring the spirit of sacrifice and the specialized skills of firefighters, emphasizes the necessity of instant decision-making and timely action to prevent severe incidents in oil facilities.
The Importance of Firefighters' Work in the Oil Industry
Gholami stated that the oil industry, due to its inherent nature, is constantly faced with a high probability of danger, emphasizing that the increasing risk factor in facilities due to operational limitations has made the capability of firefighter colleagues to deal with potential incidents and ensure safe operations one of the main pillars of production sustainability.

Firefighters' Sacrifices and Challenges
The Deputy Production Manager of Imam Khomeini Oil Refinery in Shazand emphasized that the importance of firefighters' work in the oil industry goes beyond administrative duties and full commitment, stating: "As an example of the sacrifices of this group, we can refer to the fire extinguishing operation in Esfand 1403, which took place at a temperature of minus 18 degrees Celsius. In those harsh conditions, where the ground was frozen, the incident containment operation continued with complete commitment and exemplary spirit despite environmental difficulties and injuries during work, reflecting the seriousness of these forces in fulfilling their inherent duties."
Gholami noted that the history of firefighting organizations in Iran dates back to the oil facilities of the cities of Tabriz, Masjed Soleiman, and Abadan, which are among the oldest rescue organizations in the country. He added that although organized activities in this field have been ongoing since 1979, the designation of Firefighters' Day in 2000 at the suggestion of the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council marked a turning point for increased attention to this profession.
He continued: "The holding of training courses and specialized competitions after that period provided an opportunity for the activities of these colleagues, which often remain hidden from public view due to the enclosed nature of oil facilities, to be well articulated; an approach that was better understood by society after the Plasco incident."
The Deputy Production Manager of Imam Khomeini Oil Refinery in Shazand, while commemorating the memory of the martyrs of the oil industry firefighters, emphasized: "The holding of various drills and evaluation courses for firefighters not only creates vitality and rejuvenation among the staff but also plays a significant role in maintaining the sustainability and strong presence of firefighters at the forefront of safety in the oil industry."
