Crude oil prices have faced a decline this week, but they still remain at a high level. Ongoing conflicts between Yemen's Ansar Allah and Saudi Arabia, as well as Iranian attacks on oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, are recognized as threatening factors for oil supply.

Global Oil Prices

Currently, Brent oil prices have reached $114.42 per barrel, showing a decrease from $116 last week. Meanwhile, the price of Brent oil was around $60 at the end of 2025. Additionally, West Texas Intermediate oil prices have also decreased to $100.97 per barrel, although this price remains high compared to the peak of $112 in April 2026.

The trend in oil futures markets indicates successive increases with mild decreases. This trend is concerning if it continues, even though physical oil prices have decreased from this year's peaks in recent weeks.

Attacks on Oil Tankers and Facilities

New information shows that the number of attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz has reached a new record this month. While Yemen's Ansar Allah continues its attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure, the latest attacks over the weekend targeted oil facilities and an airport. According to provided data, at least 28 vessels have been attacked in the Strait of Hormuz this month, as reported by the UK Maritime Trade Operations and the International Maritime Organization.

Of these attacks, at least 11 have damaged supertankers. This situation will be problematic in a world where oil supply is declining. The actual number of attacks may be much higher as not all attacks are reported.

Overall, this situation reflects serious challenges in oil supply and production in the Middle East region. Given recent developments, oil-producing countries must closely monitor the security situation and take necessary measures to protect their facilities.
