The arrival of the third new drilling rig at the shared South Pars field is considered an important step towards strengthening the operational capacity of the country's drilling fleet. This rig has been supplied to support the production maintenance programs of the Pars Oil and Gas Company and has been transferred to Iran's territorial waters.

Supply and Transfer of the Drilling Rig

The arrival of this rig is the result of months of continuous efforts, round-the-clock follow-ups, and successfully overcoming a series of technical, contractual, financial, banking, insurance, maritime, and international constraints. The CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company, Touraj Dehghani, noted that given the special conditions of the country and region in recent months, it took only about two months to secure this rig and transfer it to the country's territorial waters.

Dehghani also stated that despite the pressures and restrictions caused by sanctions, the process of securing and transferring the rig did not stop, and with coordination among various sectors, this project was successfully completed.

Importance of the New Drilling Rig

The new drilling rig is the third rig supplied from abroad as part of the program to strengthen the drilling fleet of Pars Oil and Gas Company, and with the latest technologies, it has increased the operational drilling capacity for gas projects in the Persian Gulf. This rig has been stationed in the shared South Pars field and will be used to maintain and increase production capacity.

With the arrival of this rig, the number of drilling rigs stationed in the projects of Pars Oil and Gas Company has increased from 4 units at the beginning of the 14th government to 13 units. The increase in the number of active rigs in offshore fields indicates an increase in operational capacity to expedite developmental operations and simultaneously manage multiple projects in the Persian Gulf.

Dehghani emphasized that strengthening the drilling fleet is one of the requirements for the continuity of developmental operations and production maintenance in the shared field projects. In a vast and shared field like South Pars, the continuous drilling of new wells is one of the main pillars of maintaining production capacity and safeguarding Iran's share of the shared reservoir.

Pars Oil and Gas Company is also seeking to develop drilling capacity and utilize up-to-date equipment to support sustainable production and safeguard national interests. The arrival of this rig can also be evaluated in this context.
