Aref, the First Vice President, emphasized the necessity of government responsibility in the field of energy conservation during a meeting on the application of modern technologies in the oil and gas industry. He pointed out the existing capacities in the country for utilizing modern technologies, stating that these capacities must be utilized to the fullest.

Priorities of Technological Projects in the Oil and Gas Industry

This meeting reviewed proposed packages including 117 projects prepared in collaboration with 42 organizations. These packages address the enhancement of the resilience of the oil and gas industry, inter-sectoral coordination, and support for the private sector, emphasizing the development of dual-use technologies. Among the priorities of these projects is to increase crude oil production by at least 250,000 barrels per day and to maintain daily production of over 700 million cubic meters of gas from the South Pars field.

The South Pars pressure enhancement project will help maintain gas production in this field, and with the implementation of these projects, it is expected that over 40 years, the equivalent of $500 billion in excess gas production will be achieved. Additionally, with the implementation of flare management and surface storage projects for natural gas, the annual gas supply will increase by 8 billion cubic meters.

Technology Development and Cost Reduction

Aref further pointed to the necessity of technology development in the oil and gas industry, stating: "Increasing productivity in this industry should help eradicate poverty." The First Vice President emphasized that oil and gas industry projects should not be viewed merely as an organizational duty but should be regarded as a national commitment.

He also highlighted the need for cultural promotion regarding energy conservation and stated that energy consumption should be reduced by utilizing the language of art and engaging public participation. Aref noted that imposing fines alone cannot help reduce consumption, and there is a need for a comprehensive energy conservation package.

Finally, Aref emphasized the use of academic capacities and collaboration with the private sector to achieve complete self-sufficiency in the oil and gas industry, stating: "The oil and gas industry always needs committed and elite forces to achieve its goals."
