The executive operations of two major solar power plant projects at Tehran Refinery have accelerated as they enter the equipment installation phase. An assessment of the physical progress of these power plants indicates that Tehran Refinery is on the path to developing renewable energy activities and becoming a comprehensive entity in the energy sector. During this visit, the latest status of work fronts, pile driving, installation of structures, and technical equipment at the Malard and Parand sites was evaluated.
Project Details of the Solar Power Plants
The first phase of the construction of solar power plants at Tehran Refinery is being implemented by the Tehran Refinery Energy Development Company over an area of more than 250 hectares. This phase includes two 100-megawatt power plants in Malard and Parand, which, upon completion, will inject approximately 410,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity into the national grid annually. This capacity, especially during the peak summer load period, can help stabilize Tehran's electricity grid.

Economic and Environmental Impacts
According to technical calculations, operating the 500-megawatt capacity of this project will save 275 million cubic meters of natural gas and 225 million liters of industrial water annually. Additionally, it will prevent the annual emission of over 575,000 tons of greenhouse gases and about 5,000 tons of air pollutants.
This project is being implemented using the approved facilities of the Economic Council and resources from the National Development Fund, with an estimated financing requirement of about 40 million dollars per 100 megawatts. According to the latest execution data, the groundwork, pile driving, and installation of metal structures at the Parand site are 45% complete, while in Malard, they are 32% complete. According to the schedule, the first phase of this project will be connected to the national grid next year.
Additionally, the 100-megawatt Khodabandeh site in Yazd is under construction with 32% progress, and another 200-megawatt site is awaiting land allocation. The total estimated investment for the construction of the 500-megawatt project has been announced as over 200 million dollars.
