Andimeshk in Khuzestan province is recognized as a new destination for investment in the petrochemical industry. In this city, two significant petrochemical projects, namely Abu Sina Petrochemical of Andimeshk and Kimia Andimeshk, are underway, each with different structures and missions.

Abu Sina Petrochemical of Andimeshk; Investment by Persian Gulf Holding

Abu Sina Petrochemical of Andimeshk is being constructed with an investment of approximately $400 million from Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company on a land area of 90 hectares. The first phase of this project includes the construction of an ethylene oxide unit with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year. In the second phase, three downstream units for ethoxylates, glycol ethers, and ethanolamines will be added to the project, bringing the total production capacity of these four units to about 328,000 tons.

Project managers have announced that during the construction of this petrochemical facility, between 700 to 800 people will be employed, and after commissioning, this number will increase to nearly 2,000, with more than 70% of them being local workforce.

Kimia Andimeshk; Entry of Tourism Financial Group into the Urea and Ammonia Chain

On the other side, Kimia Andimeshk Petrochemical is located, which, as of Ordibehesht 1403, has been linked to the Tourism Financial Group with the purchase of 70% of its shares by Lavan Oil and Gas Holding. This petrochemical operates in the urea and ammonia chain and, unlike Abu Sina Petrochemical of Andimeshk, focuses more on upstream products.

According to Lavan Holding, this project has entered the production phase, and its export capacity has created opportunities for presence in foreign markets and the creation of direct and indirect employment. Given the history and background of the urea and ammonia market in Iran, Kimia Andimeshk is positioned alongside established players such as Pardis and Shiraz Petrochemicals.

These two petrochemical projects in Andimeshk represent the expansion of petrochemical investments in Iran and the development of various production and export chains. Abu Sina Petrochemical of Andimeshk focuses on the downstream of ethylene, while Kimia Andimeshk focuses on urea and ammonia, each following its own path in this industry.

This simultaneity indicates that investment in Iran's petrochemical industry is not limited to traditional hubs, and cities like Andimeshk are also becoming locations for new projects with diverse chains and investment models.
