Hadi Chabook, the manager of the eighth refinery of the South Pars Gas Complex, announced that the downtime for production in phases 20 and 21 of this gas field has been reduced to 4.5 days. This reduction in time compared to last year, when the downtime for each phase was 15 days, indicates a decrease of about 70% in downtime.
Details of Major Repairs
The major repairs for phases 20 and 21 began at dawn on September 7 and with precise planning and specialized meetings, efforts were made to minimize production downtime. Chabook stated that this planning involved coordination among various units of repairs, operations, technical inspections, safety, electricity, and logistics.

Specialized Forces and Man-Hours
About 658 specialized and operational personnel participated in this operation, and the total man-hours estimated for carrying out these repairs reached approximately 71,000 man-hours. Specialized activities in the fields of electricity and instrumentation as well as repairs and inspections of gas export turbo-compressor equipment were also carried out during this time.
The manager of the eighth refinery continued that part of the corrective activities was implemented with a focus on increasing reliability and creating capacity for future production enhancement. According to the plans, the fourth gas line was launched on September 15, and the eighth refinery was fully integrated into the production cycle ahead of schedule.
Safety and Success in Operations
Chabook emphasized that adherence to safety requirements was one of the main priorities in this operation, and despite the high volume of activities and the presence of hundreds of specialized and operational forces, the major repairs of the eighth refinery were completed without incident. This success demonstrates the capability and high coordination of the operational teams that contributed to reducing downtime and increasing productivity in gas production.
