Fatemeh Mohajerani, the government spokesperson, today (Tuesday, October 10) addressed the changes in fuel consumption in the country during her press conference. According to the provided statistics, gasoline consumption in Iran has decreased by 7% from September 8 to October 7, 2026, compared to the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) consumption has increased by 12% during this timeframe.

Impacts of Decreased Gasoline Consumption

Mohajerani highlighted the benefits of using CNG and added: "Increasing the use of this fuel can help reduce air pollution and save gasoline consumption. If gasoline consumption had continued to rise at the previous rate, the country would have needed more imports." She emphasized that the decrease in gasoline consumption could have positive economic effects.

Allocation of Resources from Fuel Consumption Reduction

The government spokesperson also referred to the allocation of resources obtained from reduced fuel consumption for the livelihood issues of the people, stating: "The government will directly allocate the resources from this reduction to the livelihood issues of the people." This approach reflects the government's determination to support the livelihoods of the people and reduce dependence on fuel imports.

Considering the statistics and the current trend of fuel consumption, it seems that the government's programs aimed at improving public transportation infrastructure and encouraging the use of clean fuels can help improve the environmental and economic conditions of the country. In this regard, increasing the use of CNG as a clean and economical fuel will play a significant role in reducing pollution and conserving fuel resources.

Ultimately, this decrease in gasoline consumption and the increase in CNG consumption indicate a positive change in the fuel consumption pattern in the country, which can help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and preserve the environment.
