The Ilam Gas Refinery, with a daily production capacity of 24 million cubic meters of natural gas, has taken effective measures to reduce greenhouse gases. In this regard, Shina Ansari, head of the Environmental Protection Organization, announced during a visit to the refinery that greenhouse gas emissions in this unit have been reduced by 30,000 tons.
Management and Monitoring of Industrial Units
Ansari further stated: "Monitoring and managing production and industrial units is the responsibility of this organization, and the performance of industrial units in reducing pollutants and managing greenhouse gas emissions should be evaluated based on data and monitoring results." These statements highlight the importance of overseeing industrial activities and their impact on the environment.
Measures by the Ministry of Oil
The head of the Environmental Protection Organization also referred to the positive programs and actions of the Ministry of Oil to reduce associated gas in oil-rich provinces. He emphasized that reducing the flaring of associated gas not only has positive environmental effects but is also important for energy consumption management and reducing energy imbalance.
According to Ansari, "The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions at the Ilam Gas Refinery can serve as a model for other industrial units in the country and demonstrate that with proper planning, it is possible to achieve a reduction in pollutants."
The Necessity of Completing Air Quality Monitoring Systems
Ansari stressed the need to complete real-time air quality monitoring systems around industrial units and added: "Given the production of organic compounds in this industry, if financial resources are secured, the monitoring parameters of the real-time stations can be increased to provide more accurate information on air quality status."
He continued: "Industrial units must follow programs to reduce pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions based on legal requirements and monitoring results." This issue indicates the need for synergy between the Ministry of Oil and the Environmental Protection Organization to achieve common goals in reducing pollutants.
Consequences of Reducing Greenhouse Gases
The reduction of 30,000 tons of greenhouse gases at the Ilam Gas Refinery can have positive impacts on public health and the environment. This action not only helps improve air quality but can also lead to increased public awareness regarding the importance of environmental preservation and sustainable development.
Considering the global trend of reducing pollutant emissions and the commitment of various countries to international agreements, the actions of the Ilam Gas Refinery can be recognized as a successful model in environmental protection.
