The global LNG shipping index (UP World LNG Shipping Index) reached 232.88 in week 39 of 2026, down by 6.39 units (2.67%). This decrease indicates a return to the support levels of August. During this week, only 3 out of 21 companies in this index experienced price increases, while 18 other companies saw price declines, with an average negative change of 2.17%.
Geopolitical Impacts and Gas Market Prices
Geopolitical factors, particularly expectations of an imminent resolution regarding Iran, contributed to the price declines in the energy market. Gas prices in Asia fell from a four-year high of $25.85 per million BTU. Additionally, gas reserves in Europe rose above 70%, alleviating concerns about winter supply.

Expectations for an increase in Qatari exports, evidenced by increased "dark" movements of Qatari energy vessels near the Strait of Hormuz, exerted further downward pressure on the market. Spot vessel rates also reached $29,500 (Atlantic) and $31,000 (Pacific).
Company Performance Analysis
Despite significant declines, the price reductions were not uniform across many companies. New Fortress Energy faced a drop of over 44%. Additionally, Tsakos Energy Navigation experienced an 11.2% decline, nearing its support levels.
Excelerate Energy also saw an 8.13% decrease, approaching a support level of $35. Among other companies, FLEX LNG, Golar, and Dynagas had declines of 4.75%, 4.25%, and 4%, respectively. On the other hand, only three companies, ALNG, Shell, and Capital Clean Energy Carriers, experienced price increases.
As a result, expectations for a return to support levels and anticipated impacts in the market continue, while factors such as the retirement of steam vessels and new liquefaction capacity will remain influential.
