Swan Defense and Heavy Industries (SDHI), a leader in shipbuilding and heavy engineering in India, announced its unaudited financial results for the first half of FY27, which ended on September 30, 2026.

Financial Performance and Orders

SDHI's confirmed orders reached approximately ₹6,500 crore as of September 30, 2026, providing a revenue outlook until FY31. These orders include six chemical tankers for Rederiet Stenersen AS, four ammonia dual-fuel cargo ships for Energy ONE Limited, four harbor tugs for Svitzer, and a training vessel for the Royal Navy of Oman.

New Orders and Repair Projects

SDHI has received an order from Energy ONE Limited for four ammonia dual-fuel cargo ships with a capacity of 92,500 DWT, marking the first order of this type for an Indian shipbuilding company. Additionally, the company has ordered four TRAnsverse 3200 harbor tugs from Svitzer, a subsidiary of A.P. Moller – Maersk, with deliveries starting in early 2028.

The company has also completed seven ship repair and refurbishment projects, including vessels for the Indian Coast Guard, commercial ships, and offshore platforms. These projects included the repair and dry-docking of ICGS Samudra Pavak, a Pollution Control Vessel (PCV), involving robotic hull scanning and hydroblasting, as well as a complete upgrade of pollution control systems, which were delivered on time.

Heavy Engineering Development and Capacity Expansion

Steel cutting has begun for five cargo discharge units with a capacity of 2,500 tons per hour for L&T Mines and Minerals. Furthermore, SDHI has received preliminary approval for a land expansion under the National Shipbuilding Program to enhance capacity. This proposed investment will include a 600-ton Goliath crane and a 40-ton ELL crane, which will improve operational efficiency at India's largest dry dock.

Vipin Kumar Saxena, CEO of SDHI, emphasized the importance of timely delivery and world-class quality, expressing hope that demand for shipbuilding in the domestic market will increase in the next 12 to 18 months.
