Sasan Timouri, the director of the National Oil Products Distribution Company in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari region, announced a 16% increase in CNG consumption in the province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari. This increase began on September 8 of this year, following the implementation of a 10,000 Toman gasoline price at the free fuel station cards.
Impact of Gasoline Prices on CNG Consumption
Sasan Timouri emphasized that the increased interest in CNG can help manage gasoline consumption and also promote the use of alternative fuels in the transportation sector. He added: "The development of compressed natural gas (CNG) consumption can be part of energy consumption management approaches."
Advantages of Compressed Natural Gas
The director of the National Oil Products Distribution Company in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari region pointed out the benefits of using CNG and said: "Compressed natural gas produces fewer pollutants compared to some liquid fuels due to its combustion characteristics. Using this fuel in dual-fuel vehicles, if the vehicle and equipment are standard and properly maintained, can help reduce air pollutant emissions."
Timouri also emphasized the importance of the correct and safe use of dual-fuel vehicles and CNG equipment, adding: "Adhering to technical requirements, conducting periodic inspections, and visiting authorized centers are important requirements for the safe use of this fuel."
CNG Capacity in the Energy Mix
He reminded that the increase in CNG consumption in the province indicates the suitable capacity of this fuel in the energy mix of the transportation sector. Timouri stated that the continuation of cultural promotion and information dissemination about the economic, environmental benefits, and management of CNG consumption can help in more targeted use of this capacity.
