Keramat Veys-Kermi, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, announced a 14% increase in CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) consumption in the country. This increase in consumption occurred after the third gasoline price adjustment and is clearly evident in the statistics.

Trend of CNG Consumption Increase

The average daily consumption of CNG has risen to about 16 million and 700 thousand cubic meters in October 2023. According to the provided statistics, this amount represents a significant growth in the fuel consumption pattern in the country compared to August, when the daily CNG consumption was 14 million and 700 thousand cubic meters.

Economic and Environmental Impacts

Veys-Kermi emphasized that this 2 million cubic meter increase in CNG consumption directly equates to the replacement and daily savings of nearly 2 million liters of gasoline in the country's fuel cycle. This change can significantly help manage fuel consumption and reduce the burden on the gasoline basket, aligning with policies aimed at reducing air pollution and preserving the environment.

CNG consumption, as a clean and economical fuel, offers many benefits to the country. Among these benefits are reducing dependence on gasoline and improving urban air quality. With the rise in gasoline prices, it is expected that the trend of CNG consumption will remain upward and assist in the development of the necessary infrastructure for its distribution and use.

Future Outlook

Given the increase in gasoline prices and citizens' willingness to use alternative fuels, the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company has plans to expand the CNG distribution network and increase the capacity of CNG supply stations. These measures could facilitate public access to CNG and increase its consumption, ultimately leading to reduced dependence on fossil fuels and improved environmental conditions in the country.
